Finding Dad explores how my parents’ unresolved past shaped my life. Frustrated by patterns I couldn’t escape, I traveled to Germany to find my estranged father. Armed with a camera, I tracked him down and spent one hour with him. An encounter that left me with more questions than answers and inspired this film.
Blurring reality and fiction, Finding Dad reimagines my journey: an actress plays me, a documentarian who hires an actor (played by me) to meet her father in her place. This layered storytelling became a way to process and heal, highlighting how stories can connect us, transform us, and bring clarity to life’s unresolved moments.
