When an evangelical university threatens their coffee shop, a group of girls fight to save the home they've built together.
Starlight is a live-action feature about a young woman caught between two worlds, trying to find a place where she can be fully herself.
The story is, in many ways, my own. I struggled with being gay while attending Liberty University, where I didn't feel like I belonged. But I also didn't feel fully accepted by the gay community at the coffee shop where I worked. I found myself caught between two communities, each with its own politics, expectations, and ideas about who I was supposed to be. That experience left me with a question: What happens when you don't feel like you belong anywhere?
Starlight explores what that isolation does to a person when the people around them are divided into opposing sides. Rather than looking at that divide through political labels, I want to explore what it feels like to be caught in the middle of it. Because beneath all the politics, there are people trying to figure out where they belong, who they can trust, and whether there is a place where they can finally feel seen.
